First dates – they can be both exciting and stressful, fun and fraught but in a survey ahead of Valentine’s Day next Tuesday, Cardiff’s Red Dragon Centre has found that most of those asked were on the same page when it came to what to actually do with the person that may indeed become your significant other if it does all go to plan?
Heading out for a bite to eat was far and above the preferred option for first date fun with over 60% of respondents putting food firmly on the menu. Fittingly perhaps to mark St Valentine’s, when asked what type of food would feature, Italian was the runaway favourite (71.95%), followed by Chinese (12.8%) and then Indian (7.93%).
If not opting for a first date dinner, those surveyed plumped for a drink as second choice (25%), and bowling (18.9%) third, which just pipped the cinema into fourth (16.46%).
For those who did choose the cinema option, perhaps unsurprisingly, romcom / comedy was the most preferred genre (58.5%), followed by action (18.9%), then thriller (14%) and the very unromantic horror bottom of the pile.
Speaking about the survey results, Red Dragon Centre Marketing and Tenant Liaison Manager, Emma Constantinou said:
“As you can imagine, the Centre is the scene for many a first date and we’ve even had a few proposals on site as people recreate the romance of the first date they had with us to pop the all-important question to the one they love.
“We had a great response to the survey – yet more proof that us Welsh are a nation of old romantics at heart!”
